What line has the most detail??

Okay. I started with JL's and do find some to have alot of detail, but most just have pressed out engines, etc. . Then, Greenlight entered the picture with some models (mainly the Mustangs and Vettes) as extremely detailed with excellent paint and detailed engines. But, I must say, the M2 Authentics are coming on strong. I like all cars, old and new. The new M2's are great, especially the Red Caddy. The detailed engines, with opening hoods and trucks, are well worth it. Your thoughts??

I'm in the same boat. JLs got me hooked back into collecting after childhood but now I'm onto M2 and some GLs. Would be cool if Russ could find another set of the Real X castings to put on the site.

Yes those Real X rides are quite nice. I like the small size, but great detail. Those plexi-glass display cases are also cool. smile.gif

I am still partial to the JL's, they just have way more castings to choose from. Greenlight is pretty comparable to JL, really if you put them together, there is not much difference. After all I believe these are made at the same factory?

M2 has really hit the market lately, the opening doors are really put together nice. I can tell you this year the M2 line has outsold the JL and GL line but then again we only recieved 1 new JL set yet this year.

On a marketing standpoint, Greenlight is just sold by everyone, everywhere, so that makes for a bit spread out in the sales department. JL's are not as heavy in the hobby market, but I think is going to get that way after this year. M2 stands by a pretty strick distributor system, only allowing major hobby folks to stock rides. Which of course helps us in sales.
Mattel is a totally different ballgame, and would make a long story, so I will leave that one alone. -)

So in closing, I LOVE EM ALL! smile.gif Between JL, GL, and M2, we all have a nice selection of rides that should make everyone happy. smile.gif And throw in the rare Real X and Tomica once in awhile to stir the pot.

Well, I really liked the Hot Wheels 100% releases, thought they were very well done cars. Johnny Lightning and Greenlight as Russ stated are just about equal in quality and detail as best I can tell. I haven't bought any of the M2 cars yet (pretty much a Greenlight fan) so I don't know much about them other than the pics I see on the site here but they look like very nice cars.

Hey craftymore, that SNL cowbell skit was one of the best skits that they have ever done in my opinion. I was rolling on the floor laughing with tears pouring from my eyes by the time they were done.

I think GL has the edge currently, but, I have to admit, I'm not buying many from any maker anymore to make a truly accurate comparison.

there are so many. just recently ive bought some more shelby collectables,1 badd rides. jl seems to be just putting differrent paint colors on the same ole car models. gl and m2 cars are good but the chase car thing is overrated.im also very skeptical about the supposed number of cars being made by these makers.

I tend to buy a little bit from JL, M2, and lately quite a few Greenlights.  I have picked up a few Shelby collectables  I also do pick up Matchbox and Hotwheels only if I like the castings.  I have found the detail on all is good but they seem to go in cycles.

I would love to get my grubby little hands on some 1/64 Kyosho and some more of the Tomica line tho.

I Believe that  Greenlight has the upper hand right now. But looks like Johnny Lightning is coming out with some good things and a few new ones.  Can't wait to see the new 72 Ford Torino, 80's Chevy Malibu.  Also like the M2 items the 50's cars are just unbeliveable.  However the newer items seem to be lacking quality. The doors dont match up quite right and don't open properly. But overall its Greenlight and Johnny Lightning.   biggrin
