Rumor has it that Mattel is going to go be releasing a new 1/50 scale Star Trek ships line. The first release is slated to include: USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (refit) USS Enterprise NCC-1701D (The Next Generation) USS Reliant NCC-1864
Supposed to be released in May, will be interesting to see how they compare to the JL line.
There's also going to be the Klingon Bird of Prey, and the Enterprise from the new movie coming out. There's a couple pictures of them on different websites already... I'm really looking forward to these.
oh,,its all about the money,,but most there cars are not keeping there price up,,one reason is,,i know this guy in mexico,,he gets like a hundred t-hunts at a time,,and if any of you guys do any searches you know who he is,,and he;s got great feed,,where the heck does he get them all,,i mean he would have to leave the factory with 20 or more anight,,they should start a number program to get it back up there,,green machine does,,w/l does,,heck i don;t get it,,
Russ, how many ships did you get in for the Star Trek set? I went to order them as soon as I saw the blog, but only one of the ships I wanted from the release is left. Are you expecting more? Can you tell us anything about the detail, material and size? Thanks! (can you tell I like ST? lol)
OK, something I don't get is why they are referred to as "1/50th scale".
Looking at the Enterprise NCC-1701A, it is supposed to be 305 meters long, which is 12007.84 inches. 1/50 of that is 240.16 inches long.
If we assume that the 1/50th scale is based on the model used in the movies and TV and work backwards, the model is about 6" long, which times 50 equals 300 inches (which is 25 feet). That model, which I believe was at the Smithsonian for a while, was no where near 25 feet long.
Sorry, this has bugged me ever since Mattel announced this line.
