The Rods I am going to guess and say they will be soon "Clearanced". Just overall a terrible idea trying to sell a $1 HW for $2 and more. Nothing special about them at all. No rubber, no metal, no special package, and well to be honest they sell like crap.

We cancelled these months ago but Mattel keeps sending them. We will not accept anymore sent so what you see is it. I think we will even have loads of Military, Fire, and Cop Rods in our August Sale for $1.00 each.

Sorry, hate to make it sound bad, just the flop of the year for Mattel.

I like the idea of the Olds 442, how about bringing back the Paddy Wagon?biggrin Sounds like they aren't big movers tho, thats to bad. The least they could have done was to use real rider tires and maybe metal bases?no Greenlight will soon be coming out with a set that I think will be awesome and probably a bit more on the realistic side than some of the Hot Wheel releases.

Russ, will there be a sale on them also online? I like the idea of the Fire Rods line, but with nothing different besides the cardboard, it's hard for me to get into the series. Thanks!

Not sure on a sale online yet, but I am sure when it gets closer to the storefront sale, that may happen. Hard to sell anything online at a $2 or less price, just alot of work for a loss.

IF you ask me Mattel killed the idea of a Military/Fire?Cop series when they used the same casting in 2 or 3 of the lines. Cut quality for masses and struck the cars on platic bases. They had some sweet series of cop/fire rods in the past that had detail and quality. Even if they add RR like Larrys Garge it would of sold. Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with the above comments and have been disappointed the Cop Rods and Fire Rods.  As such, I haven't paid too much attention to them.

That was until it came out in our local paper that the city of Lafayette, IN was featured one of the Cop Rods and one of the Fire Rods.  The Cop Rod being an 80's Corvette clinched it to me.  Hence an order of 5 each!
