...and Greenlight takes the lead...

Russ, just finished reading the 6/30 Monday night blog, I was surprised to see Greenlight had taken the #1 spot from Johnny Lightning in sales for you. I was even more surprised to see that M2 had moved into the #2 spot and Johnny Lightning had dropped to #3. I have a feeling that Johnny Lightning will eventually regain the #2 spot (and maybe #1 again) as they have many more castings to offer than either of the other 2 companies. It will be interesting to see who is #1 at the end of the year. Thanks for the blog and info Russ.

Yup JL is #3 for a few reasons.

1. The hot line that is selling is the 40th Anniversary line. But they are only $2.40 (average) each, compared to the M2 and GL rides at $4.99. So it takes lots of $2.50 cars to keep up.

2. The M2 line has been producing rides like crazy. I think they are now in a slow down mode so let's see if they hold #2 or ???? GL as well has been producing more than JL, so again just more available in other lines.

It's a tricky year, not sure who will win this years selling. For 2 years straight it was JL, but they are not putting out as much. I personally (as you all know) love the JL line. So many castings and great detail. Just wish they would use em all, and get back in the groove. But as with any business they have to sell em to be able to make em.

Russ

I forgot that J.L. had dropped the price on their 40th Anniversary line so that does explain alot as to why they have fallen off a bit in total sales. I have to say tho that they still put out some of the best cars on the market and I like the fact that they have dropped the price on them and went back to the smaller cardboard packages. I never have been a fan of the big "clamshell" packaging and kind of wish all the diecast companies would make smaller packages for their diecast cars. Thanks for the info Russsmile.
